Sea Oxeyes are small perennial shrubs with grayish foliage and showy, yellow, daisy-like flowers. Typically found in wet, coastal areas because it is extremely tolerant of saline environments.
Size at Maturity: Typically grows up to 1-3 feet tall and forms clumps.
Bloom Season: Blooms from spring to fall, producing yellow daisy-like flowers.
Native Status to Florida: Native to Florida along retention ponds, coastal swales, and canals.
pH Requirements: Tolerant of a wide range of soil pH levels, but prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-7.5).
Sun Exposure: Full
Salt Tolerance: Highly salt-tolerant and can tolerate regular inundation.
Moisture Requirements: Tolerant of drought once established; prefers moisture.
Wildlife Benefits: Attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies with its nectar-rich flowers. Provides food and habitat for various wildlife species, including birds and small mammals.
Considerations: Spreads through rhizomes and may require containment in garden settings.
Recommended Landscape Uses: Saline environments, coastal gardens, dune restorations, or as part of a native plant landscape in coastal areas.
Toxicity to Pets: Non-toxic to pets according to ASPCA.
